Aquanol
- The Future of Fuel

Fueling your car
in the future may mean you just have to
grab the garden hose and a bit of
ethanol.
Recently Mark Cherry, an Idaho native,
has come up with a concept that had
guests at the South Dakota Farmers Union
Convention talking about a van that runs
completely on aquanol. Yes, this van
runs on an ethanol - water mixture and
Cherry added, "This is the first
over the road vehicle running on
catalytic ignition and a 35/65 percent
water-ethanol fuel mixture." This
is along with the diesel engine that he
had modified previously to run on a
50-50 mix of water and diesel.
Cherry took
time to give guests of the convention a
ride in the van and answer any questions
that may arise about this new mixture.
The only issue that was a concern to
Cherry was the cold South Dakota
weather. The van does better when it is
warm, but Cherry stated, "there are
no dangers of the water-ethanol mixture
freezing since it has a slush point of
100 degrees below zero."
The
trick to the van is the precision-timed
catalytic glow plug, which he calls a
"Smart Plug" and he is
currently working on several
international patents. This "Smart
Plug" is currently getting limited
us from the military and in aviation.
Snowmobile and ATV manufactures are also
strongly looking in to the us of this
plug in their future models.
The engines
seem to have more torque and horsepower
then your typical engines and they run
cooler with lower emissions. The van
does require a larger tank then your
traditional vehicles but with the money
saved by purchasing less fuel the larger
tank is just a small fraction of the
cost. When
asked about cost, he stated that it
would run someone anywhere from $2000 to
$3000 to overhaul an engine, but once
the automotive industry can produce
these in mass quantities the cost should
cut in half.
Right now
Cherry and Automotive Resources, Inc are
just needing some partners in the
industry to start working toward getting
this into more vehicles then just a van
and a diesel engine.
