The Roots of SDFU Education

The South Dakota Farmers Union Education Program began in 1919 when Minnie Lovinger, of Ethan South Dakota, inspired young people with her newspaper column, “The Children’s Nook.” That column soon turned into an education program headed by Ms. Lovinger which has touched the lives of thousands of South Dakota young people.

SDFU Preparing For The Future

Today, The Farmers Union offers a wide variety of educational programs for youth and adults. From camps and Junior Advisory Councils, to seminars and leadership training, all designed to provide the skills and knowledge rural communities will need to successfully take farming and ranching into the future.
