South Dakota Farmers Union provides camps for youth of all ages. The camps provide an atmosphere of recreation, adventure, and fun while our youth learn about Farmers Union, cooperatives, leadership and social interaction. These camps are divided into three categories: State, District, and County Camps. Please check our calendar for our camp dates for the upcoming summer.

County Camps

County Camps are held in nearly every county across South Dakota, under the direction of local and county volunteer directors of education. These are day camps planned for 6 to 13-year-old children. Camps include a number of activities, such as tours, cooperative learning, games, crafts, singing and much more.

State Leadership Camp

State Leadership Camp provides the opportunity for Senior Youth (those who have completed the seventh grade, through the summer following senior year in high school) to attend the week-long State Leadership Camp at Storm Mountain Center just outside Rapid City. At this camp, youth organize and operate five cooperative businesses. They also learn about the Farmers Union, other cooperative businesses, participate in leadership workshops, listen to guest speakers and participate in talent night. A tour of the Black Hills, hiking, volleyball, basketball, and fun cooperative games complete the camp experience and leave campers with lasting memories and many new friends.

Camper Rights and Dignity Statement

South Dakota Farmers Union attempts to offer a safe and nurturing environment for all campers that choose to spend time with us. We hope to help each camper grow and learn as an individual how to become his or her best self regardless of race, color, national origin, gender identity/expression, sexual orientation, disability, age, financial status, or any other legally protected status. Our hope is that campers challenge themselves to try new activities and expand their comfort zones. Summer staff is trained in handling emotional and physical safety and any cause for concern will be handled according to the incident reporting policies.
