South Dakota Farmers Union offers many different member benefits one is a voice in government. As a Farmers Union member, you have a voice in the halls of Congress and the State Capitol in Pierre. Farmers Union is a grassroots group of family farmers and ranchers who set policy from the ground up. Farmers Union will follow the will of its members as we discuss with our elected officials in Washington, D.C., and Pierre the issues important to agriculture and rural communities. Membership in Farmers Union gives you access to your elected officials to make your voice heard.
Another benefit is our educational programs. The South Dakota Farmers Union Education Program began in 1919, and continues to thrive today. Thousands of children participate in our summer county and district camps each summer, and many go on to attend the annual State Camp in the Black Hills. We’re building the leaders of tomorrow by teaching youth the importance of cooperation, leadership, and citizenship through hands-on activities.
Leadership development programs for both adults and youth give South Dakotans tools and knowledge they need to build their rural communities. Farmers Union facilitates programs that teach leadership, motivation, cooperation and other skills that enhance lives and rural communities.
