SDFU Hires Summer Interns for Busy Camp Season

 – By

South Dakota Farmers Union (SDFU) has hired four summer interns to organize and run the SDFU local, regional, and statewide camps this summer.

The summer interns are Erin Nemec, of Holabird; Anne Wudel, of Parkston; Angie Koch, of Plankinton; and Morgan Bushfield, of Hitchcock. SDFU Education Director Bonnie Geyer says the summer interns will work with volunteer education leaders from across South Dakota to execute the annual summer camps.

“We’re lucky to have a talented and committed group of summer interns this year,” Geyer said. “They’ll work to pass on their knowledge to young campers this summer, and it is an opportunity for them to gain valuable experience in working with young people.”

Erin Nemec is a student at South Dakota State University (SDSU) at Brookings, S.D.,  majoring in nursing. Anne Wudel is pursuing her Marketing and Management degree at Dakota State University at Madison, S.D. Angie Koch is an Elementary Education/Special Education major at the University of South Dakota, and Morgan Bushfield is studying nursing at SDSU.

Nearly 2,000 South Dakota youth participate in the South Dakota Farmers Union camps every summer. This team of young people will assist in conducting and managing the SDFU county and district camps as well as our Senior Leadership Camp. SDFU youth camps teach young people about the cooperative philosophy, agriculture, stewardship, citizenship, and other life lessons.

The registration period for SDFU State Camp, and several county camps, is currently open. Visit the education page at for a registration form, or call 1-888-734-8136, Ext. 125 for more information.
