South Dakota: Crisis in the Northeast-Destruction of the Open Road
South Dakota Farmers Union recently visited farmers in northeastern South Dakota who dealt with a wet fall, a snowy winter, and another wet spring. Some crops were still in the fields this spring because of the wet fall, and many crops aren't going to be planted this spring.
But one of the most pressing issues this spring is the condition of the roads. Many rural roads leading to and from farm country are either covered with water and closed, or too soft to drive on. Heavy farm equipment has an especially hard time navigating the roads.
South Dakota Farmers Union has produced a short video about the struggles farmers in Brown County are going through this spring. Please take a look at the video by CLICKING HERE.
