SDFU President Named Chair of NFU Legislative Committee

South Dakota Farmers Union (SDFU) President Doug Sombke has been named chairman of the National Farmers Union (NFU) Legislative Committee. The NFU board of directors is made up of state Farmers Union presidents from across the country and are split into committees to deal with certain issues. The Legislative Committee will deal with national policy issues in Congress.

Sombke has been president of SDFU since 2005.

South Dakota Delegates, Members Attend NFU Convention in Texas

February 16, 2011

Over two dozen South Dakota Farmers Union (SDFU) members attended the 109th annual National Farmers Union (NFU) convention held in San Antonio, Tex., Mar. 13-15. 27 South Dakotans attended the convention and were among the more than 500 Farmers Union members from across the country at the event. Seven of the South Dakotans in attendance served as voting delegates to the convention when the national farm organization adopted its policy program for 2011.

Sen. Johnson Introduces Legislation for International Year of Cooperatives
