SDFU Hires New Membership Director

South Dakota Farmers Union (SDFU) President Doug Sombke has named Garret Bischoff of Pleasantville, Iowa, the new Director of Member Services for the organization. Bischoff will be responsible for all membership activities within SDFU, including member recruitment and retention. Prior to Farmers Union, Bischoff was the Vice President of Operations for Vande Rose Farms of Oskaloosa, Iowa.

SDFU Welcomes SD High School Rodeo Finals Participants with Free Dinner

South Dakota Farmers Union (SDFU) welcomed participants and fans of the South Dakota High School Rodeo State Finals with a dinner Thursday, June 24, at Belle Fourche. Over 500 participants, parents and fans stopped by the Lions picnic shelter on the grounds of the state rodeo finals to enjoy a dinner of barbecue sandwiches, beans, chips and pop.

7 Farmers Union States, National Farmers Union Call for Separation Between NCBA and Federation of State Beef Councils

A coalition made up of seven Midwest Farmers Union states along with the National Farmers Union are calling on the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to stop a proposal by the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) to take further control of the country’s beef checkoff program.
