With over
4,000 chances sold for the 2007
Chevrolet E-85 pick-up, those who purchased
tickets were anxious for the drawing that took
place on February 10 in Huron. When all was
said and done, South Dakota Farmers Union
Foundation Director Julie Bartling announced
that Hitchcock singer Taylor Marshall drew
Jessica Hotchkiss’ ticket. The drawing was
the concluding event for the Second Annual
"Night on the Prairie" SDFU
Foundation Fundraiser.
Hotchkiss, who lives in
Huron, was ecstatic about winning, saying,
"I never would have guessed that we would
have won with all those tickets in there, it
was just luck. I guess I have to thank my
husband Ryan, since he was the one that
purchased this ticket at the fundraiser while
he took a break from playing games."
In a fundraising and
educational effort, the South Dakota Farmers
Union Foundation staged a nine-month campaign
to sell tickets, all the while advocating the
benefits of renewable energy, ethanol and flex
fuels. All ticket proceeds raised went to the
South Dakota Farmers Union Foundation for
education programs held throughout the state.
"It's an exciting
time for the South Dakota Farmers Union
Foundation and the fundraiser and truck raffle
allows us to grow our current programs while
developing new ones. My hope is that we
develop leaders that help shape the future of
South Dakota," said Bartling.
The mission of the SDFU
Foundation is to support programs and advance
efforts that further economic prosperity and
cultural vitality in rural South Dakota. For
