Grassroots policy development is the reason several South Dakota Farmers Union members will attend the National Farmers Union (NFU) Convention held in Bellevue, Wash., March 3-5, 2019. For more information on the National Farmers Union Convention, go here.
Dakota Prairie Open
Dakota Prairie Open is a day of golf to raise funds for the SD Farmers Union Foundation. We gather 4-Person teams for a scramble with prizes at every hole and a meal to follow. Look for details on the 2020 Dakota Prairie Open in the future!
South Dakota Farmers Union Day at the South Dakota State Fair
September 5, 2020
SDFU is proud to be the Premier sponsor of the SD State Fair, the state’s largest agricultural fair. The day is spent on educating and engaging with fairgoers. SDFU hosts a Farmer Share lunch where we inform consumers on the true price South Dakota family farmers and ranchers receive for their product. Fairgoers pay what our producers receive. During the 2019 Farmers Share lunch, folks spent 25 cents for a $12 meal.
Through our interactive Farm Safety Trailer and Farm Safety Quiz Bowl, SDFU provides hands-on farm safety training to more than 3000 youth.
During Farmers Union Day at the State Fair, SDFU also hosts a variety of educational panel discussions related to agriculture policy.

These important trips provide farming and ranching families the opportunity to have their voices heard by the people who make policies that directly affect the agriculture industry.
