SDFU Member Vaughn Meyer Selected for Spot on Cattlemen's Beef Board
South Dakota Farmers Union (SDFU) member Vaughn Meyer of Reva, S.D., has been appointed by Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to a seat on the Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion and Research Board, also known as the Cattlemen’s Beef Board (CBB).
The board contracts with established national, non-profit, industry-governed organizations to implement programs of promotion, research, consumer and industry information, foreign marketing, and producer communications. Meyer manages a ranch in northwest South Dakota. He’s active on various committees, including the Black Hills Angus Association.
“It’s an incredible honor for Vaughn and for South Dakota Farmers Union,” said SDFU President Doug Sombke. “He has worked very hard, and has the knowledge and experience necessary to help the Cattlemen’s Beef Board make sound decisions. They’re responsible for promoting beef, research and many other things, so it’s important to have someone like Vaughn on the board.”
Including Meyer, a total of five Farmers Union members from across the country were appointed to the CBB. They are among 40 new appointments to the 106-person board. All members serve three year terms.
