South Dakota young people from across the state returned home from Pierre this week with a better understanding of their government. The group visited the Capital City as participants in the South Dakota Farmers Union's Senior Youth Legislative Award Trip.
Two South Dakota lawmakers have been honored for their work in the state Legislature on behalf of the agriculture industry. Sen. Shantel Krebs, R-Renner, and Rep. Mitch Fargen, D-Flandreau, are the recipients of the Outstanding Legislative Leader Award from South Dakota Farmers Union for the 2011 session. The two lawmakers were honored during the Farmers Union’s Legislative Day activities in Pierre Tuesday, Jan. 24.
South Dakota Farmers Union (SDFU) members from across the state will travel to Pierre Tuesday, Jan. 24, for the organization’s annual Legislative Day. It's a chance for SDFU members to witness the process their lawmakers go through during the legislative session, and it gives them an opportunity to talk with their elected representatives about the issues that are important to them.
